Distribution: Southern Mexico to southern Brazil and Paraguay
Aptly named, in some instances freshly surfaced wood can be very bright, watermelon red, though color can vary from light orange/pink. Grain is usually straight or irregular; fine, even texture with low to medium luster. Turns, glues and finishes well, though a brown color shift is expected. Common uses: Turned objects, inlays, veneers, fine furniture, and small specialty wood items. Commonly called Chakte Kok.
