Heartwood is light brown to straw color with dark blackish brown streaks-vaguely resembling zebra stripes. Grain is interlocked and or wavy uniform, medium to coarse texture with good natural luster. Rated as DURABLE to VERY DURABLE resistant to termites or other insects. Glues and finishes well. Common uses: Veneer, tool handles, furniture, boat building, musical instruments, skis, etc. Sometimes called Zebrano, the wood is strong and stiff, with a fairly high density,
