Distribution: Africa
Heartwood ranges from pinkish red to a darker reddish brown, sometimes with darker purple or black streaks. Grain is straight to interlocked, uniform fine to medium texture and moderate natural luster. Relativity, easy to work, turns and finishes well. Common uses: Veneers, inlays, fine furniture, cabinetry, turned objects, and specilaty items.
